Mangaluru: As many as 48 trees along the Valencia-Nandigudda Circle stretch will be felled to facilitate widening of the road.
The cutting down of trees began on Tuesday after the forest department granted permission to the city corporation with the condition that saplings would be planted once the work was complete.
Several decade-old trees that so far provided relief from the heat to commuters will cease to remain as the road will be widened. The widening and concrete work till Nandigudda Circle will be completed in this phase of development.
