Mangaluru: Mangaluru Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar, was awarded the President’s Medal during the Republic Day celebrations.

A 1998 batch IPS officer, M Chandra Sekhar was born in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. He completed B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kharaghpur. He was posted as the ASP in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and as the SP in Bilaspur and Mandi, Chhattisgarh. Then he was posted to Karnataka on deputation.

Chandra Sekhar worked as Bengaluru East DSP from 2009 to 2012 and DIG of Fire department from 2012 to 2014. Later he was posted as the Joint Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City. Before Joining the Police Department, he worked in Infosys for one and half year.

ACP Madan Gaonkar also chosen for the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.
