Belthangady: A 60 year old person  was killed after  by a swarm of bees while eight others suffered injuries in the incident at Indubettu village on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Poovappa Gowda resedent of Killur near Belthangady. 

It is said that a JCB was at work near a school and by mistake touched a beehive. About eight students who were on their way home were stung by bees. They were admitted to a private hospital in Badyaru.

The locals rescued the students by covering them with gunny bags. However, Poovappa who was passing by was stung by bees and died on the spot.
