Mangaluru : A 47-year-old woman, riding a pillion on her husband’s scooter, died after the two fell off their vehicle at Nooyi near Gurupura on Sunday afternoon.

According to Bajpe police, Hemavathi (47) and her husband Purandra Achar (57) from Bandaribettu in Bantwal were on their way to Gurupura to attend a death ceremony of their relative Bhagya who died in a road accident on February 2.

The police said that Purandra Achar lost control over the vehicle at a turn at Nooyi and the two fell off the scooter.

The two were taken to a private hospital nearby. Hemavathi, who suffered a head injury, died before reaching the hospital.
