Mangaluru : Two motorcycle-borne men attacked a 36-year-old shopkeeper near Jokatte here on Sunday.

According to Surathkal police, Prakash Poojary, a BJP activist and resident of Thokur, was returning from his shop in Jokatte to his house on a scooter. Near Jokatte Third Gate, the two persons on the motorcycle blocked his way. The two, who were wearing helmets, hit Prakash Poojary with sharp weapons on his back and legs around 5 p.m. Passers-by noticed Prakash Poojary lying unconscious on the road and made arrangements to move him to a private hospital near Kuntikana junction.

The police said that they are yet to identify assailants. The police said they have so far not found any evidence to link this assault with the one on a 22-year-old man in Kana on Friday.
