Mangaluru : The Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Adyar, Mangaluru, played host to a job and skill training camp organised under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in association with Rooman Technologies, the training partner for the National Skill Development Corporation.
Lok Sabha member Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the camp wherein representatives from over 70 companies from IT, ITES, Retail, Banking, Telecom, Healthcare and Consulting sectors had converged at the campus. Hundreds of candidates, from those who have passed SSLC up to postgraduates attended the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhandary Foundation Chairman Manjunath Bhandary said that along with academics, students need to be thorough in skills and hence the camp would go a long way in help them become more employable. Rooman Technologies CEO Manish Kumar said the training mainly aimed at developing skills among the youth. The Skill Council has identified about 30 sectors for which training was needed. The PMKVY offers various courses in the field of retail, banking, telecomm and more. After the training they assure placements, he said adding that while those getting hired by companies could get immediate jobs, others could enrol for the training programme.
