Mangaluru : A third-year MBBS student sustained grievous injuries while his friends sustained minor injuries after a car they was travelling by hit an electricity pole in Deralakatte on Friday.

The Ullal police gave the names of the injured as Mathew Verghese, George Rohan, Kaushik Thomas, Samshad and Rajeev.

All five are students of K.S. Hegde Medical Academy and they hailed from Kerala.

The police said that Verghese was driving the vehicle from his college towards Kuttar. Verghese lost control over the car and hit an electricity pole around 8 p.m.

All the five were moved to KSHMA hospital.
