Mangaluru : District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said a proposal will be submitted seeking an additional grant of Rs 11.50 crore towards the works which were not included in the development of the Lady Goschen Hospital or else a request will be made to deviate the Rs 10 crore meant for MCH building.
He said this while chairing a meeting on the development of Government Wenlock Hospital and Lady Goschen Hospital here on Monday. He said the new building of the Lady Goschen Hospital is being built by MRPL a cost of Rs 21.09 crore.
It needs several other works, including electrification of the exterior of the hospital building, inclusion of elevators, installation of air conditioners, fire control equipment, gas pipeline, interlock to the yard, work towards converting the administrative blocks to wards and other works, which are not included in the contract. These works need an additional funding of Rs 11. 50 crore, he added.
He said the MCH building is at the stage of construction and the government has reserved Rs 10 crore the work. If this amount is diverted to the construction work of the new building of the Lady Goschen Hospital there will be no necessity of MCH building.
Responding to this, the Health Department engineer said there is no provision to divert the funds of MCH building to the another work. The guidelines by the Health Department towards the uniformity of MCH building has to be maintained nationwide. The tender for MCH building work has already been invited and the development works are included in it.
Rai said it is necessary to obtain the additional funds and hence, a proposal will be submitted to the government in this regard in order to complete the works faster. He told the KMC Hospital to submit a detailed proposal towards the development of the Wenlock Hospital in the PPP model.
Minister for Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fisheries K Abhayachandra Jain, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, Zilla Panchayat CEO P I Srividya, Commissioner of Police M Chandra Sekhar and District Surgeon Dr H R Rajeshwaridevi were present in the meeting.
