Mangaluru : After being inactive for over five months, the twitter account of Mangaluru Police Commissioner (compolmlr) has become active again.

The account was opened by the then Police Commissioner R. Hithendra on January 1, 2015. The same day Mr. Hithendra was transferred. S. Murugan, who took over, posted only a few tweets. Following the introductory tweet on January 23, there was a tweet in June on an arrest related to a murder conspiracy. It was followed by another in August about an arrest in a theft case at a high-end mobile showroom. This was followed by three more tweets in October.

There were not many tweets after the one on October 2, 2015, on the Police Commemoration Day. The activity on this account again started from March 21 when a photograph of the Police Commissioner was posted in connection with the cracking of a murder case. There were two tweets on Wednesday on the arrests of people on the charges of gambling and illegal possession of marijuana.

Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar said that now there would be tweets every day.

“I will be personally looking at the tweets that are uploaded,” Mr. Sekhar said. He said that he was trying to put a dedicated team of policemen to keep the account active. “I hope to make it more interactive,” Mr. Sekhar said.
