Mangaluru : ‘Pa Go Prapancha,’ a book on veteran journalist Pa Gopalakrishna (Pa Go) Bhat, authored by journalist Chidambara Bykampadi, was released at Press Club Mangaluru on Wednesday.
The book was earlier released in Bengaluru.
Releasing the book, writer Vaman Nandavar said Pa Go was an ideal journalist and he did not believe in appeasing those in power. He was known for his simplicity and rational mindset, Nandavar remembered.
Journalist Manohar Prasad recalled his encounters with Pa Go. Though Pa Go studied only up to Class 10, he had a quench for knowledge throughout his life and was always studious. His social consciousness always kept him thoughtful and this reflected in his writings. He was a versatile person and also produced a Tulu film ‘Sarpasankale,’ he recalled.
Prasad suggested young journalists not to pass any judgements in their write-ups.
Author Chidambara Baikampadi, District Working Journalists’ Association General Secretary Srinivas Indaje and journalist P B Harish Rai were present.
The book is published by Ekam Prakashana and contains various incidents and anecdotes chosen from Pa Go’s life. It is priced at Rs 90.
Every year, Pa Go award is presented to a young journalist for the best rural report.
