Mangaluru : Bayya Mallige as Play was first staged in the year 1966. It staged the play for a record number of 28,000 times both in India and abroad.

“Bayya Mallige” was made into a film and released in the year 1974 under the banner Jayaram Films at Ramakanthi and Jyothi theatre. There was huge fan following for the movie, he added.

Dr P Sanjeeva Dandekeri’s Tulu Drama most remarkable record breaking, Bayya Mallige’s will be celebrating 50th year and a function in this regard will be held in Town Hall on May 15 in Mangaluru.

Speaking to reporters at a press meet, at Hotel Foodland on May 10, Tuesday, Producer Sanjeeva Dandekeri said that, Bayya Mallige’s first stage performance was in the year 1966 and lay was staged for a record 28,000 times both in India and abroad, he added.

President of Buntara Maatru Sangha Ajith Kumar Rai will inaugurate the 50th year celebration of Bayya Mallige and will be presided by former Minister Krishna J Palemaar. Mayor Harinath wll release the DVD while tele film will be released by Dr M Mohan Alva. Kinnari Serial Actors Jyothi Rai and Baby Disha Ram will grace the occasion.

VG Pal, G Krishna Kotian, G.Krishna Kotian Vamanjuru and Jagannatha Shetty Bala Committee Members were present.
