Mangaluru : Expressing difficulty for Mangaluru City Corporation officials to regulate the working of water tankers, corporation Commissioner H.N. Gopalakrishna said it should be done by the Transport and Police Departments.
During a meeting at the office of Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim on Thursday, the residents accused private water suppliers of overcharging for supplying water by tankers.
They expressed the need for better regulation of working of water tankers.
The residents wanted the corporation to take action against errant private water suppliers.
Mr. Ibrahim turned to Mr. Gopalakrishna and asked to take necessary action. Mr. Gopalakrishna said the MCC officials were preoccupied with arranging water for residents since last few days.
He said it was difficult for officials to regulate working of private tankers.
“We did ask the RTO to take action, but they refused to do so,” he said.
Mr. Gopalakrishna asked Mr. Ibrahim to issue orders to the police and the RTO to take action on complaints against private water suppliers.
