Mangaluru : The Deshapremi Sanghatanegala Okkoota, which is fighting for justice for the family of slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga, has expressed its intention to take the fight to Bengaluru if all the accused in the case were not arrested.
The convener of the Okkoota, Narendra Nayak, who is also the president of the Federation of India Rationalist Associations, told presspersons here on Friday that police should arrest all the accused persons, including the key suspect Naresh Shenoy, the convener of Mangaluru unit of NaMo Brigade. The fight for justice for Baliga’s family will continue till all accused persons are arrested.
The 52-year-old Vinayak Baliga was hacked to death a few meters from his house in Kodialbail on March 21. The police have so far arrested three persons allegedly involved in the attack of Baliga.
On the allegations by Gowd Saraswath Brahmin Community representatives that the Kashi Mutt was unnecessarily being linked with murder, Mr. Nayak said he was ready to have an open discussion on this issue. “We are ready to explain all our points in detail. Let them explain what help they have lent to the sorrowing family of Baliga,” he said.
In an open letter to the Gowd Saraswath Brahmin community leaders, Mr. Nayak said none from the community had bothered to meet family members of Mr. Baliga and console them. None had asked police for speedy investigation of the murder, he said.
