Bantwal : A sand transport control group penalized 15 lorries for transporting sand more than capacity. Another lorry which did not have a license was seized and was handed over to the Bantwal rural police.

Apart from this, the Bantwal and Vittal police have also seized more than 50 lorries for illegally transporting sand.

Raids were conducted under the leadership of Bantwal Tahsildar at Sajipapadu, Sajipamuda, Kalladka, Melkar and Fajeer and nine lorries were penalized Rs 27,000 for transporting sand more than capacity. A raid was also held at Thumbe and Pudu and a penalty of Rs 20,000 was collected from six lorry owners.
