Belthangady : A five-year-old girl was crushed to death under the wheels of a school bus at Kakkinje here on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Fathimath Thouhida, daughter of Hamad Kunhi, of Charmadi village. She was studying in LKG at Kakkinje School.

The girl came to Chramadi in school bus and alighted on road side. There was no conductor in the bus. The driver suddenly moved the bus backward and the girl who was behind was crushed to death by the school bus. It is told that the negligence of the driver is responsible for the accident.

A case has been registered at Dharmasthala police station.
