Mangaluru: Commenting on the fees refunding row, Alva’s educational foundation PRO Padhmanabha Shenoy said while speaking to MegaMediaNews that till now the institution has defended hundreds of such cases and in most of the cases the court has passed order in favour of the institution only.
“During the admission we take signature from the parents on three bond papers in which it is mentioned that at any cost the fees amount will not be refunded once it is deposited in the college. In fact if the candidate is leaving the college then he/she should pay next year’s fees also. After agreeing for these conditions parents will sign the papers,” he said.
“In this particular case a student from Davangere named as Dhrushti had some health issues and she left the college two days after joining. There are totally 20000 plus students are in the hostels. If the health problem was due to the hostel facility then most of these students should have suffered, but no one else has reported about it,” he added.
He further said that the situation and the rules of the institution have been explained to the Deputy Commissioner and he is fully convinced by the documents submitted by the institution.
SFI protest
Student Federation of India (SFI) staged protest against the institution saying that the institution should refund the fees on humanity basis.
“DC and DDPI took U-turn in this matter. Initially DDPI had orders for the refunding of the fees, but later he is speaking in the favour of the institution itself. Even DC also did the same,” said Nithin Kutthar, District President of SFI.
Social reformer Dinesh Hegde Ulippady, SFI leaders Charan Shetty, Hamza Kinya and others were present.
