Mangaluru: Mangaluru University College organised Open House-2016 on Monday at Mangaluru campus. The programme was inaugurated by the General Manager of Karnataka Bank, Chandrashekhar Rao.
Speaking on the occasion he said that there are different fields in banking sector also. Usually people think that only commerce students can work in banks, but no there are opportunities for science and arts students also.
“Students should choose the course, having a proper planning in their mind. The chosen course should help them to reach their goal. Previously there were limited courses for the selection, but now there are lot of courses which are helping students to study what they want. Sometimes students may get confused while choosing the course. Programmes like Open House will help students to clear their confusions,” he said.
Registrar of Eveluation, Mangaluru University, A M Khan said that Open House programme helps the society to know the achievements and pro social works done by the University. People should make more use of it.
The principal of Mangaluru Campus Dr Uday kumar M A said that there is a world out of the syllabus. Students should focus on that also. Only academic progress will not let the students to achieve their goal.
“Students need to be exposed. They should know the ratings and scope of their courses. The open House Programme will let them know about the governmental subsidy and about the preparations of the course. Students should understand what is their strength and weakness. The course should be chosen on the basis of their introspection,” he added.
He further informed that nearly 500 people have enquired about various courses and 225 students have collected their application forms.
French and German language certificate courses
Dr Uday Kumar further said that the evening college is introducing two new certificate and diploma courses in French and German language. Interested students can apply for it within July 23.
“The foreign language certificate course will help the students to communicate with others in a effective manner. Engineering, B.Com, B.A, B.Ed or any people working in corporate companies can apply for it. The classes will be held between evening 6 to 8 o’clock,” he informed.
