Udupi: Many teachers who were raged by the redeployment of government teachers took Udupi DDPI Divakar Shetty to task at Board High School, Udupi on Tuesday.
The Karnataka state Primary School Teachers Association had decided to redeploy extra teachers to other schools based on the strength of the students. The teachers are urging the association to consider the present strength of students not the older one.
Nearly 220 teachers had got message to attend the counseling for redeployment on July 19, nearly 15 days ago.
There are 606 primary schools in the district, out of them 244 are lower primary and 362 are higher primary schools.
The teachers are complaining that the process will affect the teachers who are settled with their family in a particular place. Most of the teachers have been deputed to faraway places. This will create major problem.
Speaking about the transfer DDPI Divakar Shetty said “the process of redeployment was done in March. The number of students in Kannada medium schools has been decreased gradually. Only in 26 schools the number of students has been increased.”
“I am trying to convince the irked teachers. It is quite normal to get angry while receiving transfer order. They are worried about the whereabouts at the deputed place,” he added.
He further said that the reason behind the transfer is the decrease in enrolment of the students. Some of the schools have more teachers than required.
Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana officer Nagraj was present.
