Mangaluru: A 105-year-old environmentalist, who has the record of planting 384 saplings of Banyan tree at Hulikal, Thimmakka very much known as Salumarada Thimmakka insoired young minds of present generation at St Agnes College on Monday.

She was promoting the theme of ‘nurturing environment in the neighbourhood’, organized by St Agnes College, NSS wing and Inner Wheel on Monday. As a part of the project to plant saplings from St Theresa High School to Vaz Bakery in Bendoor, she planted Oleander sapling.

“If we nurtured the environment then environment will nurture us. If we didn’t do our duty then the nature will perish the mankind,” said Thimmakka.
