Mangaluru: Sri Rama Sene (SRS) activists raided St Thomas Aided Primary School at Padu Bondanthila, Mangaluru on Saturday, alleging that Arabic and Urdu languages are being forcibly taught to the students.
A team of 50-60 activists raided the school. They alleged that every Saturday teachers make students to study Urdu and Arabic language forcibly. The activists raided the school after receiving a complaint of it from the locals.
Activists questioned the school authorities about the matter and they also questioned the teachers who take Urdu and Arabic classes.
Informing about the raid Zonal President of SRS, Anand Shetty said that ‘sene’ opposes the forcible study of Urdu and Arabic in the school. Students belonging from all the religions come to study here.
“Forcing someone to study a language is against to the Indian Constitution. Even though Urdu and Arabic languages are not mentioned in the syllabus, it is being taught to the students since past four months,” he alleged.
He further said that if the school wants to teach Urdu and Arabic then it should teach other scriptures like Bhagavad gita and Vedas also.
It is reported that the headmaster of the school have guaranteed the SRS activists to stop the Urdu and Arabic classes immediately.
