Bhatkala: A fisherman went missing after a boat capsized in sea at Mavinakurve port, Bhatkal. Seven fishermen swum for nine hours and with the help of another boat they reached the shores, on Wednesday evening.
Eight fishermen had gone for fishing at Arabian Sea on Wednesday at 2 pm. Due to adverse weather the boat had been capsized and they started drowning. Fishermen swum till night 1.30 and they were shouting for the help. A boat named ‘Mathsya Deepa’ heard the voice of these fishermen and rescued them.
The fishermen were admitted to the government hospital at Bhatkal.
Pandu Nagappa Kharve (42), Krishna Chandrakanth Kharvi (36), Nagesh Babu Kharvi (33), Ramadas Masti Khavi (35), Madev Krishna Kharvi (25), Subraya Krishna Kharvi (32) and Ajith Govind Kharvi (26) are the fishermen who swum for long nine hours.
Manjunath Babu Kahrvi (35) is the missing person. He tried swimming, but his body didn’t support for it. Other also helped him to swim towards the shores, but they also couldn’t hold it for long. Search operations are being conducted for the missing man.
