Mangalore : Bharatiya Janata Party, emerged as a winner in the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, giving away the strong blow to India National Congress in both ZP and TP election held. The Janata Dal (Secular), which had won 5 seats in the previous ZP polls, has only retained a single seat this time in Puttur.
The Congress party was succeeded to win in election in many constituencies compared to previous, it failed compete with BJP.
Out of the 35 Zilla Panchayath constituencies in the district, BJP has secured almost 24 seats leaving rest 11 seats to Congress.
Where as in Taluk Panchayath, In district except Mangalore, there was a victory of the BJP in rest of the four taluks. Even in Bantwal, which is said to be the home constituency of B Ramanatha Rai, district Congress President also failed to cope up with BJP.

The JD(S) has shown its presence of participating in the ZP and TP election by winning one seat in Taluk Panchayath in Puttur.
Udupi:
BJP has won the Udupi Zilla Panchayath with a majority of 16-9 as per the results announced.
Kundapura, Udupi and Karkala taluk panchayaths went in favour of BJP.
In Udupi Taluk Panchayath BJP got 23 seats, Congress got 17 seats and CPI (M) one seat. In Kundapura Taluk Panchayath BJP got 22 seats, Congress got 12 and one independent got elected.
