Mangaluru: Foundation stone for Kaikamba market at Kaikamba and skywalk near town hall was laid by district in-charge Minister Ramanatah Rai, on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering MLA J R Lobo said that Kaikamba market will be constructed at the cost of Rs 90 lakh and skywalk will be constructed in partnership of MCC, CDA and MUDA.
“As the town hall area is fully crowded with vehicles, a skywalk with escalators will be constructed near it. Keeping security fd the pedestrians in mind this decision has been taken. MCC will give a aid of Rs 7 lakh, Coastal Development Authority will borne Rs 78 lakh and MUDA’s aid will be Rs 71 lakh. Totally the estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.57 crore. And it is expected that the construction work will be completed within a year,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Ramanath Rai said that after Bengaluru, Mangaluru is the fastest developing city in Karnataka. This has become possible because MCC and MLA bothe are working together for the development of the city.
“MLA J R Lobo has tried and succeeded to bring aid from various departments for the developmental works in the city. MCC should look into constructing more skywalks wherever it is necessary,” he added.
CDA President Niveditha Alva, MCC opposition leader Roopa D Bangera, MCC Commissioner Muhammad Nazeer, Shashidar Hegde and others were present.
