Mangalore : The National Jute Board in association with Central Government has organized a ‘Jute Fair’ comprising an exhibition –cum- sale at Woodlands Auditorium on Jan 5, Wednesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the fair, Mayor Rajani Dugganna, said that the jute works done in varieties of products helps the people to get self employed in the manufacturing process.
She also said that, the products made of jute is an eco – friendly products and avoid plastic. There are 23 participants from various state’s such as from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and other places to exhibited their products in 5 days fair.
Mr Ayyappan, Marketing promotion officer of National Jute Board, South said that the participants in the exhibition are given stalls at free of cost. He also said that the Board will also provide training programme for the people interested in the jute manufacture. The NJB will be ready to train the group of 25 to 30 people with the minimum qualification of tailoring in any state.
The NJB is organizing the fair for the second time in Mangalore and have got very good response previously. This fair will help to create awareness on eco friendly jute products and will have no pollution impact.
The fair has exhibited the products like purses, bags, bangles, chains, hair clips, sandals, pencil box, mobile covers, mats and other products from the range of Rs 10 to Rs 1,500 made of jute, straw fiber, Kora leaves, elephant straw and Banana Fibres.
