Udupi: Birth day of Lord Krishna, ‘Krihna Janmashtami’ was celebrated with religious fervour at Shree Krishna Math, Udupi which is a well known temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, on Wednesday and Thursday.
As there were differences in views of ‘Pandit’ regarding the exact date of Ashtami, this year Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on Wednesday and Thursday, as per the direction of senior seer Pejavar Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji.
On Wednesday, Swamiji held fasting throughout the day and at 11.45 pm he offered prayers to Lord Chandra nad then at 11.48 pm he offered special rituals to Lord Krishna. Sri Vishwaprasannateertha Swamiji, also offerd ‘Arghya’ to Lord Krishna.
After this devotees also offered special prayers and received Chakli an Laddu Prasadam which was given on behalf of Math.
Swamiji will continue fasting till Thursday night 11.48 and after offering Arghya to Lord Krishna and Lord Chandra he will break his fasting. Prasadam will be distributed after that followed by Vittla Pindi will also be celebrated.
As part of Krishna Janmashtami Hangarakatte Dalits Bajana team performed Bajanas, National awardee Rajanna Bhajantri Sagara held a Oboe recital at Rajangana.
