Kasargod: Strict actions will be taken to curb sand mafia in the district, said Deputy Commissioner Jeevan Babu K.

Addressing the media conference at DC office, Kasargod on Friday, he said that As the Kasargod is a border line district; huge amount of sand is being imported and exported from here.

“Kasargod is facing scarcity of sand, which has led to the illegal import of the sand from neighbouring states,” he said.

Speaking on four lane road till Talapady he said that, the work is about to finish, but when the road reaches Kerala it becomes narrow and causes more traffic related problems. So, it becomes necessary to develop the National Highway.

“Due to lack of land and technical reasons, it is becoming difficult to attract the investors to invest their money here. We will look into this matter soon,” he added.
