Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada region BJP unit has denounced the action of the district superintendent of police (SP), in making it obligatory to furnish bond adding up to Rs 10 lac for holding of various Hindu celebrations, religious festivals and national celebrations by several associations, organizations and Hindu centres of faith.
“Dakshina Kannada region is a place where there are Daivas and gods. Since times immemorial, Hindu religious programs have been held here in a way that is distinctive and one of a kind when compared to other regions.
These programmes have been held in the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. The BJP might be compelled to take to streets if the SP does not properly assimilate the way of life of this area and tries to crush religious sentiments of the locale,” said Dakshina Kannada district BJP president, Sanjeev Matandoor in a statement.
He has requested the SP not to stipulate the bond condition of Rs 10 lac for the regularly held national celebrations, Hindu celebrations and religious festivals and Hindu religious programmes organised by various associations and foundations in the region.
