Mangaluru: CITU and DYFI staged bike rally as a preparation for upcoming ‘Bharat Bundh’, on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering CITU State General Secretary Vasant Achari said that this rally has been organised to educate people about the purpose of calling for bundh.
“The government is backing imperialists. This is a fight between imperialists and labours; this is a fight between the government and labours association. The government has no concern towards labour,” he said.
He further said that the labour act has been amended as per the wishes of industrialists. The acts which were in favour of labours are being amended in favour of industrialists. Though there are 93% of unorganised labours, they don’t get minimum wages and there is no social security for them.
“Transport labours association, unorganised labours association, students association and other organisations are supporting the bundh. We are protesting to provide minimum Rs 18,000 as a wage, to eradicate unemployment and such 17 demands,” he added.
CITU district Secretary Santhosh Kumar Bajal, DYFI district Secretary Santhosh Bajal and others were present.
