New Delhi: JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Friday and apprised him of the water crisis in the Cauvery basin of Karnataka.
Emerging out of the meeting, Gowda told reporters that he explained to the prime minister the current storage of water in reservoirs in Karnataka and the requirement for drinking water in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mandya.
“The PM is aware of the situation. As the matter is in the Supreme Court, we can’t expect much from the Central government,” he said. “I have also sought urgent intervention by the PM to resolve the long-standing problem.”
