Mangaluru: State level championship for specially-abled people was held for the selection of national level tournament, on Saturday at Mangala stadium.

The tournament was inaugurated by MLA J R Lobo.

In his inaugural speech MLA Lobo said that it is very sad to say that the government is not providing funds for these kinds of tournaments.

“Efforts will be made to get some fund for the development and promotion of sports for specially-abled people,” he said.

Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza said that specially-abled people be brought the main stream of the society. Government jobs should be offered to those who achieves even after being specially-abled.

Sportsman from eight districts had taken participation in the tournament and out of them 24 will be selected to the national level.

Pradeep D’Souza, Sundara Poojary,Jayavitala, Mahabala Marla, Agnes and others were present.
