Mangaluru: 37th foundation day of Mangalore University (MU) was inaugurated by the higher education Minister basavraj Raya Reddy, at Mangala Gangotri auditorium on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion Minister said that MU has the equal status like a hundred years old university. Some of the communal minded forces are trying to defame MU.
“Communal organisations should introspect themselves. If any unwanted deeds are done in universities in the name of communalism or religion, then strict action will be taken against those organisations. Some of the organisations are disturbing the social values. Students should condemn such activities, they should not join hands with such forces,” he said.
Further he said that MU has succeeded in providing quality and effective education. It has got ‘A’ grade from NAAC due to the coordination between university professors, students and the local people. The quality and the value of education in MU should not decrease at any cost. The government will support MU from all the ways.
Addressing the gathering district in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai said that MU is best known for providing quality and value added education. Change in the society can be brought through education only.
“Communal forces are using students for their benefit. Universities should bring harmony among the students. It should teach how to love others. MU should be the model for the harmony in the district,” he added.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader said that a nation will not become strong only by the officials and politicians; students are the prime element to build a strong nation. They should not commit any anti-social works.
MU Chancellor K Byrappa, Valuation Registrar A M Khan, Financial Officer Shreepathi Kalluraya, Tulu movie actor and director Devdas kapikad and others were present.
