Mangaluru: “The government will form a 17 members committee of directors to plan the blueprint of Mangaluru as smart city,” said MLA J R Lobo.
Addressing a press conference at DK Congress office on Saturday, he said that the committee will have 7 members from MCC, 7 from state government, one Central government representative, one independent representative, MP’s and MLA’s.
“Under smart city project Mangaluru will get a financial aid of Rs 1000 crore for next three years, out of which the Central government’s contribution is Rs 500 crore and state government will contribute Rs 500 crore. For first year Rs 200 crore will be aided by both the governments and then Rs 150 crore for next two years will be aided by each government’s,” he said.
He further said that some of the cities which were selected in the first list of smart city project haven’t reached the expected level in terms of development. Mangaluru should stand at top than those cities.
“Traffic problem in the city has increased. I have discussed with deputy commissioner regarding the same. Action will be taken on those buildings, which haven’t allotted space for parking in basement,” he added.
Corporator Lancelot Pinto, Kavitha Sanil, Balraj Rai, Vishwasdas and others were present.
