Udupi: “A model sports policy will be formed by the government after discussing with the sports associations, sports persons and experts,” said state Minister for sports and youth affairs, Pramod Madhwaraj.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the stakeholders’ discussion meeting of Udupi, DK and Chikamagaluru at Udupi Town, Ajjarakadu Hall on Tuesday, he said that a private and public participation maintenance system model is planned. Discussions will be held with education minister and health minister and they will submit the report to the CM.
“In the stadiums which will have private and public participation will be used by the government for conducting sports activities for hundred days and rest of the days will be used by the private sector to conduct the sports events,” he said.
He further said that a committee has been formed under the leadership of himself to hold discussions with the stakeholders regarding the policy.
Alva’s educational foundation President Mohan Alva, said that the government should allot money for the development of sports sector and grace marks should be given to those students , who take part in sports events.
State sports department Deputy Director Anupama Agarwal, ZP CEO Priyanka Mary francis and others were present.
