Subrahmanya: Family members of bus conductor Devdas, who committed suicide after jumping into the river for allegations of not returning the change to a lady passenger, staged protest in front of Kadaba police station along with Devdas’s body, on Wednesday.
Family members are alleging that due to the assaults by the Kadaba police humiliated him.
Devdas had committed suicide after a lady passenger quarrelled with him regarding the change. The matter reached to Kadaba police station and she argued that she had given Rs 500 and conductor hasn’t returned the change. But Devdas had argued that the lady had given only Rs 100 not Rs 500. Kadaba police after the investigation took Rs 400 from Devdas and gave it to the lady.
Hurt by this Devdas decided to end his life and wrote a death note in his log sheet and jumped into the Kumardhara river.
The body of Devdas was found on Tuesday at around 11 am and it was two km away from the incident spot. After the autopsy family members took the body in an ambulance and staged protest in front of the Kadaba police station.
Puttur ASP Rishyanth assured the protestors to take action against the guilty.
Inspector Anil Kulkarni, DCIB Inspector Amanullah, Sullia Inspector Krishnayya and others were also present.
