Mangaluru: “Condom scam allegations on the Congress government are baseless. Former BJP corporator Ramesh has a bad habit of making false allegations and the present allegation is not at all true. We are ready to face any sort of investigation,” said food and civil supplies Minister U T Khader.
Addressing the press conference on Thursday, he said that Ramesh has alleged that the state AIDS prevention society has purchased condoms from a private company instead from the government. This was happened during U T Khader’s tenure as health minister, AIDS society president, vice-president and chief minister are also involved in this scam.
“There is no connection to the state government for buying condoms. National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) regulates this and this organisation belongs to Central government. I and Chief Minister are at all linked with this. All the purchase will be done by the Central government itself,” he said.
Further commenting on the new ration card system, he said that Karnataka is the first state to introduce coupon system for ration card. The applicant can get the coupon number by dialling 161. Through this system, people will get relief from waiting in queue for long time.
“The coupons can be got every month. The system will start from next month,” he added.
