Mangaluru: Mangaluru city Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar inaugurated the Mangaluru Dasara at Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple on Saturday.

The idol of Sharada Devi was brought to the Dasara darbar with a grand procession and various rituals. Idols installation of other devi’s that are Adishakti, Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kooshmadini, Skandamatha, Katyayini, Mahakali, Mahagowri and Siddidhatri was done earlier.

Later, speaking to the media persons Commissioner Chandra Sekhar said that it is a joyful and blessed occasion. Dasara should be celebrated with appropriate customs and traditions. People should understand the meaning of Dasara, it depicts win of good over evil.

Speaking about the security for the Dasara celebrations he said that the security level has been increased in the city for Dasara Celebrations.

“800 police and 350 home guards have been deputed for the security purpose. Along with the police security, the organisers should provide volunteers, who should join hands with police in security,” he said.

Harikrishna Bantwal, H S Sairam, sdvocate Padmaraj R, Urmila Ramesh Kumar, B K Tharanat, Ravishankar Mijar, Malathi R Poojary and others were present.
