Puttur: “The transport department has assured to depute 160 buses to Puttur KSRTC depot, out of which 12 buses are already been provided and the rest will be joining the present buses before next March,” said Puttur MLA Shakunthala Shetty.

Addressing the gathering after flagging off 12 new buses allotted for Puttur bus depot on Saturday, she said that with consent to this matter she has received a letter from the transport department.

“Meanwhile, 26 JNURM buses will also be provided to the depot. As the depot service is extended to many rural areas, it was difficult for the depot in-charge to manage the bus, due to lack of buses. After urging the transport minister regarding the extra buses, he had promised to provide more buses as soon as possible,” she said.

Puttur CMC President Jayanthi Naik Balnad, Puttur KSRTC Control Officer Nagaraj Shiralli and others were present.
