Mangaluru : The accused of Ismail Nelyamajal (52) murder case has been arrested by the crime branch police, said Gulabrao Bhushan Borase the superintendent of police at press meet. Ismail was a Congress leader and President of KPCC Minority Unit Coastal Branch.
He said that police have arrested seven people with regard to this case. Out of them four were the people who gave the contract of killing and other three are the executioners.
Abdul Rasheed alias Munna (32) from Ammunje in Bantwal and Ibnu Abbas (32) from Krishnapura Suratkal are the two arrested at Mattu Cross in Udupi and Umar Farooq A K (32) from Kedila who is said to be the mastermind of the murder was arrested in Kabaka in Puttur on Sunday, October 2
Ismail was hacked to death on September 23 at Aivarnadu, when he was returning from the mosque. He had stopped his Innova car near a mosque at Aivarnadu and went inside to offer Namaz. While returning back from the mosque at 1.45 pm a group of attackers attacked him with lethal weapons. Ismail breathed his last due to the severe injuries.
