Mangaluru: Armed dacoits looted the house of Kateel temple priest and decamped with Rs 50000 cash and 82 sovereign of gold, at Gidikere on Tuesday morning.

Robbers looted the house by keeping Kateel temple hereditary priest Vasudev Asranna and his family at gun point.

There were eight robbers during the incident and they arrived in a vehicle. There were four people in the home including Vasudev Asranna.

Family members have said that one of the eight robbers had covered his face with a mask and he might be a local person and the robbers were speaking in Hindi mixed Tulu language.

Forensic experts and canine squad arrived at the spot along with police.

Bajpe Inspector T V Nagaraj and station personnel arrived at the spot and conducted the spot investigation.

Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar along with other top level officers also visited the spot.
