Mangalore : Lokayukta sleuths arrested a Shirastedar of JMC Court for allegedly accepting a bribe from the advocates for signing any documents of the case on Jan 10, Monday.
A Lokayukata stated that Rudrappa, a Shirastedar at JMC Court, demanded bribe from Advocate Raghavendra Rao for signing the urgent bail required for the court procedure.
Speaking at the media persons, Advocate P P Hegde, said that, many advocates had earlier complained about the bribe taken by Rudrappa for demanding Rs 100 toone thousand for even a small work of signing the documents and applications.
Reportedly Advocate Raghavendra Rao is a president of BJP Yuva Morcha. He had submitted the file for the sign with Rudrappa who demanded Rs 200 with him. If he did not demand directly, he would keep the file pending for many days unless they give the amount. Hence Advocate Rao had filed a FIR to the police station and Inspector Uday said that this case will not come under his vigilance.
Hence Rao filed complaint to the Lokayukta and the officials directed him to offer the notes after applying phenolphthalein powder. As directed, Rao offered the currency to Rudrappa and informed Lokayukta and later he was taken into custody.
Advocate Hegde also said that, the court worker being caught red handed for accepting bribe is for the first time. Further the case will be submitted to High Court. The advocates and Mangalore Bar Association along with BJP Yuva Morcha will condemn this act and hold protest to give justice to the advocates.
In a well laid trap, the Lokayukta police officials like Chief Justice Kehar, Dy SP Lokesh and Gangadhar along with other staffs participated in the operation.
