Mangaluru: “GST is a significant tax reform implemented in India after the independence,” said State Income Tax Department Additional Commissioner Y C Shiva Kumar.
He was addressing the gathering in a GST awareness programme organised by Canara Commerce and Industrial Institution on Friday.
“All the necessary works have been done to implement GST by April 2017. We are expecting many positive results from the implementation of GST. It is commerce friendly as well as pro-consumer tax scheme,” he said.
He further said that tax process will be simplified and instead of multi tax uniform tax system will be implemented.
“Online market doesn’t come under the present tax system. Though the transaction level has crossed crores, they are not paying the tax. After the implementation of GST online market also will be considered under the tax system,” he added.
