Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation Mayor Harinath flagged off seven new dry waste collecting vehicles on Wednesday at MCC.
Later speaking to the reporters, he said “Mangaluru City Corporation will be collecting the dr and wet waste separately under the banner of ‘Namma Mangaluru Swaccha Mangaluru’,” said MCC Mayor Harinath.
Further he said that he said that MCC needs cooperation from the people of Mangaluru to manage the waste.
“Dry and wet waste should be collected separately and dry waste will be collected once in a week,” he said.
Health standing committee Chairperson Kavith Sanil said that the collected dry and wet waste should be given to the vehicles accordingly. In case the waste is not separated then the vehicle staff will not collect the waste.
“Wet waste will be collected every day and people should separate wet waste like vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, banana leaves and others things from the dry waste. Dry waste such as plastic, paper, glass, rubber coconut waste and other things will be collected once in a week,” she added.
Further she requested the people to utilise this facility provided by the MCC effectively for the successful management of the waste.
