Udupi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid foundation stone for the Karnataka State Government Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdullah Maternity Children Charity Hospital on Sunday at Ajjarakadu Town Hall.
Speaking on the occasion district in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that a memorandum has been signed between Karnataka state government health department and NRI businessman Dr B R Shetty. The proposed hospital will provide better health treatment to poor and needy people.
“200 bedded hospital will be constructed by BRD Health and Research Institute Pvt Ltd. This hospital will be specialised in mother and child treatment. The hospital should follow the guidelines of state government for the treatment of various schemes beneficiaries and BPL card holders,” he said.
He further said that to supervise the service of the hospital a committee will be formed which will have DC, district HO, district surgeon and representatives of the hospital. Moreover, free service will be given to mother and child during emergency time at Centre for Excellency hospital.
“B R Shetty has also proposed for a 400 bedded world class super speciality hospital in the district. It is to give best treatment to the public with reasonable charges. As soon as the new hospital will be built the old MCH hospital will be demolished,” he added.
Chief Whip of the government Ivan D’Souza, MLC Pratap Chandra Shetty, MLA Gopalkrishna, CMC President Meenakshi Bannanje and others were present during the occasion.
