Udupi: District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj received the guard of honour after hoisting the Karnataka flag on the occasion of Kannada Rajyothsava celebrated at open stadium Beedinagudde on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Madhwaraj said that CM Siddaramaiah’s ambition to create hunger free state has come true by Anna Bhagya scheme. He has taken the initiation for the all round development of the district.
“7.55 lakh families have benefited by Anna Bhagya scheme and ration is being delivered through coupon scheme. The below poverty line norms has been simplified and the income and caste certificate validity has been increased to five years,” he said.
He further said that more than lakh families have been benefitted by various schemes implemented by the Congress government. The government has also given importance to the sports department also.
“A sports academy has been sanctioned for the district and Rs 3.50 crore has been sanctioned to construct lawn tennis court with modern features in the district. Further Rs 1 crore will be funded by Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes for the same purpose,” he added.
30 achievers were awarded with district Rajyothsava Award.
