Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation officials have locked down the scrap yard in the city for not paying the rent.
The yard was allotted to Scrap Vendors Association in 2008 and Rs 1.65 lakh rent was fixed. Now the pending rent amount has been increased to Rs 15.35 lakh. Though the notice has been issued to the association in regular intervals of time, no rent was paid yet.
The last notice was sent in August and the association was mum on it. So, MCC Mayor ordered to lock down the yard and after receiving the orders MCC Revenue Official Praveen locked down the gate.
MCC will give a time of two days for the payment of rent or else the goods will be sold in auction to compensate the rent, he said.
Revenue official Vijay Kumar and others were present.
