Mangaluru: Mangaluru Bar Association and All College Students Association to organise jatha from DC office premises on November 11 demanding for the circuit bench of High Court in Mangaluru.
Addressing the press personnel on Wednesday, Bar Association President S P Chengappa said that there is a need of reforming city’s judiciary system. Being listed in smart city project is not only enough.
“If the government forms the circuit bench here in Mangaluru then economically poor people also can have the access to the judiciary. But now for the higher appeals the people of Mangaluru and nearby districts have to go to Bengaluru. So, the government should form a ciecuit bench of High Court here in the city,” he urged.
He further said that the stipend of practitioners should be increased to Rs 3000 from Rs 2000 and the eligibility criteria for the stipend which says income limit up to Rs 40000 should be dismissed.
“The work of court road is not up to the mark. Though the foundation stone was laid in 2015 the road is still closed and some of the work is still pending,” he added.
