Bangalore: Former PM and MP from Hassan, H.D. Devegowda today accused the ruling (BJP) government of misusing the high office of speaker in the state legislature as their own, and K.G. Bopaiah (speaker) was acting like a BJP MLA, taking orders from the rulers.
The Vidhan Sabha speaker has become a toy in BJP hands. He serves his CM. But while forming legislature committee, he should take opposition party as well. How can any activity run smoothly, when other parties are not represented in such house committees, he asked.
Gowda regretted the speaker’s action of suspending only the opposition MLAs who misbehaved. He admitted that the House of Legislature was highly honoured in a democracy.
“I did not see a government worse than the present one. I regret that the house is going on a wrong path.” But it was a good point that Congress and JD-S got together to fight ruling high handed BJP govt. in 20101-11, he added with twinkle.
