Udupi: District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated the 529th birth anniversary of Kannada poet and saint Kanakadasa at Govinda Kalyana Mantapa Kinnimulky on Thursday.

The programme was organized by district administration. Speaking on the occasion Minister Madhwaraj said that Kanakadasa is not restricted to any particular caste or community.

“He spread message of secularism before five years and those messages are relevant to the present generation also. It is the land where Kanaka was enlightened by the darshan of Lord Krishna. So, we should ensure that the justice should meet each and every person,” he said.

He further said that it is very much necessary to promote the thoughts and messages of Kanadasa to the present generation.

ADC Anuradha, Udupi ZP President Dinakar Babu, CMC President Meenakshi Madhava, TP President Nalini Rao and others were present.
