Mangaluru: “The new under construction block of Lady Goschen government hospital will be completed soon and will be inaugurated on March 23, 2017, said state Health Minister Ramesh Kumar.
Speaking to the reporters at DC office on Friday, he said that nearly Rs 18 crore worth work has been accomplished and excess Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned by the state government. MRPL under its CSR programme had came forward to construct a 500 bed hospital block.
“Rs 9.70 crore has been released from NABARD for the construction of new block at Wenlock Hospital. It will be accommodating 126 beds. It is a prime medical centre for the people of various districts. As per the estimation plan Rs 18.20 crore fund is needed out of which tender for the work of Rs 5 crore has been called,” he said.
He further said that Rs 13 lakh has been sanctioned to renovate paediatric care centre in Wenlock hospital. To continue the peritoneal dialysis facility in the hospital Rs 30 lakh has been sanctioned.
“As per the MoU between KMC and Wenlock, KMC hospital is providing human resource and equipments to the government hospital. The MoU will expire in 2017. So, we have asked to construct a super speciality hospital which may cost Rs 100 – 120 crore. Equipments and the human resource will be undertaken by KMC and the service for the public will be provided free of cost,” he added.
Further Minister said “after the construction of super speciality hospital, Wenlcok will be made as autonomous body.”
