Mangalore : Gadkari, the national president of the Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP), said that the central government’s economic policies and the administrative system are responsible for the hike in the prices of petrol and other essential commodities. He was addressing reporters at Bajpe Airport on Jan 16, Sunday.
Revealing that this is the third time the prices of petroleum products are being hiked, Gadkari said that the government has done nothing to control the price hikes. If the prices of essential commodities continue to rise, common people will find it very difficult to cope, he added.
Stating that BJP ministers intend to raise this issue in Parliament and to urge the central government to take immediate measures, he said that the BJP will stage intense protests if the government ignores their pleas.
Dr. V. S. Acharya, the state higher education minister, Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister; and Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly were also present.
